ACT
The ACT is an option for a college entrance exam. It costs $63 with no writing and $88 with writing to take, and each date has a variety of locations in NWI. It requires that you sign up by a specific date to avoid additional fees.
Juniors should consider taking it by spring/summer.
Seniors need to prioritize having a score ready for their college applications by August of their senior year. Keep in mind that many schools are waiving this requirement for acceptance for the 2020-21 school year, but many scholarships are still requiring an SAT or ACT score.
Make sure you include all colleges you’re considering to receive your score report. If you wait past the window to request your scores be sent, you will need to pay for each one!
DMCHS hosts the ACT in June of each year. Our 2022 date is Saturday, June 10.

Free SAT Prep Available for November and December Testers
Schoolhouse.world, from the founder of Khan Academy, is offering free online tutoring for students who are taking the SAT in November and December. Please make your students aware of this unique opportunity to prepare for the SAT this fall.
What are the SAT Bootcamps? The Schoolhouse SAT Bootcamps are a four-week long tutoring series and research study to help students prepare for the upcoming SAT. Sessions take place twice a week (75 minutes per session) and students have the flexibility to select the dates & times that best fit their schedule based on the bootcamps available.
What is covered? Students will learn from a certified peer tutor in a cohort of up to 10 other students throughout the bootcamp. During sessions, students will practice multiple full length SAT practice tests and get personalized support for the most challenging questions & concepts.
When are they happening? We are currently offering bootcamps to help prepare for the November and December SATs. The November SAT Bootcamp will run from October 8th to November 4th and the December SAT Bootcamp will run from November 5th to December 2nd.
Why should I participate? These bootcamps are 100% free and have proven highly effective! Students who participated in previous bootcamps experienced a 90+ average score increase across both sections. In addition, learners have reported an increase in content understanding and testing confidence (hear it directly from our learners, Setareh and Kavish).
How do I sign up? Visit this link to enroll in an SAT Bootcamp! Registrations for the November bootcamp close on October 6th - spots may fill up quickly so sign up soon.
PSAT
In order to help our students prepare to take the SAT college entrance exams, DMCHS administers the PSAT every October. The date is set by the state, so keep an eye out on the Knightline and announcements every fall.
The PSAT takes about 3 hours, and we do have slots available each year for homeschool students who need a location to take the test.
Results are typically available mid-December and are placed in students’ files here at DMCHS. Parents also receive a copy.
PSAT scores are used in high school to determine if a student is ready to take a Dual Credit course.
PSAT is administered to sophomores and juniors each year. Juniors are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their PSAT scores.
DMCHS will be hosting the PSAT for our juniors and seniors and a select number of homeschool students on October 12, 2022.
